The East Campbelltown Eagles rugby league club are celebrating one of the best weekends in the club’s history.
First grade is headed for higher honours in the Sydney Shield competition after downing Wentworthville 44-20 at Waminda Oval on Sunday.
Ben Baker scored a hat trick for the Eagles, who will now take on Cabramatta in the first Sydney Shield qualifying semi final this coming Sunday, September 4.
The clash will be played at Campbelltown Stadium at 10am.
The Eagles are already celebrating winning two premierships on the weekend.
The club’s Under 19 side took out the Sydney Combined Competition premiership after defeating Berala Bears 54-12 in the grand final played at Belmore Sports Ground.
East Campbelltown Reserve Grade also secured a premiership trophy when they defeated the East Hills Bulldogs 26-10 in the grand final.
The Eagles U19 went into the grand final having lost twice to their opponents – Berala Bears – during the season.
A huge effort was needed from the boys from East Campbelltown and they delivered in spades.
After a freakish try to Berala to start the match, it was all the Eagles.
East Campbelltown were unstoppable, running in 54 points to smash Berala off the paddock in claiming the U19 premiership trophy.
The Man of the match award went to Samoa Meafua.
In the reserve grade grand final, which was played straight after the U19s, the Eagles put on an impressive display to knock off the East Hills Bulldogs.
The score was 14-4 at half time to the Eagles, and it was anyone’s game, but East Campbelltown held onto win 26-10, to the delight of their supporters who had travelled to Belmore.
The man of the match award went to Vili Vai.
