There’s 4,000 jobs for doctors across the state

South West Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) has backed a NSW Health campaign encouraging junior doctors to apply for 4,000 positions across the state.

The positions are being offered through the State’s 2016 recruitment of Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) – the largest campaign of its kind in Australia.

SWSLHD chief executive Amanda Larkin said the positions ranged from Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) through to Advanced Training and Senior Registrars in a variety of specialties.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for NSW doctors to develop their careers and skills, particularly those who are commencing or continuing their training in a particular specialty in NSW public hospitals,” Ms Larkin said.

“NSW Health continues to increase the number of JMO positions to meet our staffing requirements and improve patient care.

“NSW Health will establish 60 new medical speciality training positions over the next four years, with 15 of these positions commencing in 2016.

“The new positions have been established in a number of specialties including psychiatry, palliative care medicine and general medicine in rural and regional locations including Berry, Bathurst, Goulburn, Kempsey, Lismore, Orange, and Wagga Wagga,” she said.

Applications for JMO positions close on August 13.
