Diwali Festival is coming to Willowdale
A Diwali Festival is coming to Willowdale this Saturday, October 14.

Willowdale in Denham Court will turn into a party atmosphere this Saturday, October 14, when Stockland hosts a colourful Diwali Festival at the family friendly community.

Families from around the region are expected to converge on Willowdale Display Village on Willowdale Drive for the event which will run from 10am to 1pm.

Highlights of the Diwali Festival will be the captivating live entertainment featuring authentic music and dancers.

Other activities include a Bollywood dance workshop, henna artists, lantern decorating craft stations and a photo booth.

Youngsters can look forward to a range of activities in the display village street, including a jumping castle, 11 metre inflatable slide, face painting and balloon artistry.

Guests will also be able to purchase Indian cuisine and coffee at the event.

Diwali Mela, commonly known as the festival of lights, is an ancient Hindu Festival celebrated in the northern hemisphere each year in October and November. Spiritually, the festival signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair.

Richard Rhydderch, Stockland general manager for NSW, said the Diwali Festival was the perfect way for Willowdale residents and visitors to celebrate their culture.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“It is also a fantastic opportunity for all members of the community  to learn more about Hindu traditions,’’ Mr Rhydderch said.  [/social_quote]

“In addition, guests will be able to take a wander through the 34 innovative contemporary homes on display in the Willowdale Display Village and be inspired by the latest trends and designs.’’

Mr Rhydderch said Willowdale had been a hive of activity lately with the community’s dog park officially launching on October 7 and the Willowdale Shopping Centre, which features a mix of specialty retailers including a family medical centre, alfresco dining areas and a full-line Coles supermarket, opening yesterday, October 11.

Mr Rhydderch said the Willowdale Display Village was setting a new benchmark for innovative, yet, affordable homes that combined the latest energy efficient technologies with a luxurious finish.

Designed by 17 of NSW’s leading builders and architects, each display home is designed to suit today’s lifestyles and includes the latest in energy and water efficient features that will save buyers money.

Mr Rhydderch said Willowdale was a 6 Star Green Star – Communities rated greenfield master planned community and the fast growing development was being designed and constructed to the world’s highest environmental and sustainability standards.

“Each home has been designed to high sustainable living standards and with affordability in mind, ensuring the homes are energy and water efficient to reduce household living expenses for their owners,” he said.

Located in the East Leppington growth precinct, Willowdale was launched in 2013.

It is 15km from Liverpool and offers easy access to the M5 and M7 motorways.

More than 4,000 people currently live at Willowdale and on completion the community will be home to around 10,000 residents and feature around 25 hectares of parks and playgrounds and a new primary school.
