Guests to Dinner in the Secret Garden this Saturday, May 21 at the Australian Botanic Garden Mt Annan will be treated to an extravagant dinner experience with a rare taste of Indigenous culture.
“This will not just be a night of good food and great sights, but also a night to experience the Indigenous stories and histories of the area through story-telling and dance,’’ says Kim Ellis, executive director, Botanic Gardens & Centennial Parklands.
“The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan is already a popular destination by day, but now you can take advantage of this exclusive opportunity to see the Garden after dark with a stunning culinary experience,” Ellis said.
“It is special enough to see the Garden at night, but this new Garden Dinner Trail lets us unlock the door to the traditions of our past.”
Jody Orcher, the education co-ordinator of Aboriginal pograms at Mt Annan said: “In our culture, dance and music are important to ceremonies, they are a way to tell the stories of our history.
“And to share history is important to help people better understand the first Australians, our way of life and our beliefs. We just can’t wait to share our stories with guests on the night.”
The evening will unfold with sunset drinks and canapés, followed by a torch lit stroll through some of the loveliest parts of the Garden where those with a keen eye can spot resident wallabies.
Diners will then be treated to a bush-themed dinner and dessert in another beautiful location within the Garden.
Chef Adam Williams and his talented team at Melaleuca House look forward to taking part in the event again this season, along with the challenge of developing a bush inspired menu.
Drinks are included in the ticket price which is $120 per person. For more information on the event or to book tickets visit the garden’s website here.
