information sessions to help people understand basic legal rights
It’s important to have a basic understanding of your legal rights and responsibilities.

Campbelltown City Council will host a series of free legal information sessions, in partnership with Macarthur Legal Centre, to help residents gain an understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities and the services available to assist them.

Presented by professionals from Macarthur Legal Centre, the Let’s talk legal series will provide information on a variety of topics including family law, young people and the law and workplace rights. The information sessions will be held at Campbelltown City library branches.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said council was pleased to host Let’s talk legal to help residents access information and advocacy.

“Most of us will need legal help at some time in our lives. The law can be complicated so it’s important to be informed and know when to seek professional advice,” Cr Hawker said.

“These sessions aim to provide general legal information, helping residents to understand their rights and responsibilities.

“We hope that the sessions will raise community awareness of the services that are available and de-mystify some of the more common legal processes,” Cr Hawker said.

Information sessions will be held during Law Week, Homelessness Prevention Week, Safe Work Australia Month, National Child Protection Week, Mental Health Week, Week Without Violence and National Carer’s Week.
