While roads are the top priority in the next 12 months, Wollondilly residents will also be able to enjoy some great new facilities, from cycleways to arts centres.

Council’s draft delivery program, operational plan and capital works program (2026-2027) promise that towns right across the Shire will benefit from new facilities.

The program is in response to calls from the community for major infrastructure other than roads.

Council is investing a total of $45.8 million in capital works across the Shire for the next financial year, with a range of projects to support the health and wellbeing of local communities right across the Shire.

Some of the highlights are:

• The Old Menangle School site playground and landscaping, construction and building design

 • Dudley Chesham all abilities playground and multipurpose building design at The Oaks

• Completion of the Picton to Tahmoor Shared Cycleway

• Commencement of the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre

• An upgrade of the Birahlee Park Playground at Yanderra

• Botanic Gardens upgrades, including accessible amenities, stage, pathways and an inclusive play space

• Netball courts and floodlighting at Appin Sportsground

• Numerous footpath projects including Avon Dam Road and Silverdale Road, as well as kerb & gutter .

“While improving our roads is clearly the top priority for our community, followed by sustainable management of growth and development, our community also wants to see investment in major infrastructure including new community and sporting facilities,’’ says Mayor Matt Gould.

“We have taken on board feedback received from our residents during the recent public exhibition period to ensure that their priorities for the future have been adequately captured, and we look forward to work happening on the ground in the near future.

“We live in an amazing Shire and our vision is to keep what makes it so special whilst making it an even better place for everyone,” he said.
