The teams observe a minute’s silence in memory of James Ackermann, the Queensland Cup player who died last week.

The Central Western NSW Woodbridge Cup under 18 side showed plenty of class and skill when they whipped their hosts, Group Six, 60-6 on Saturday afternoon.

The match was played at Campbelltown Stadium.

Canowindra’s Jack Grant opened the scoring for the visitors after 12 minutes.

The Woodbridge Cup boys went on with it, scoring five more tries to lead 32-0 at halftime.

In an impressive display, they added two more tries to the tally in the second half before the home side were able to open their account with their one and only try.

Thirlmere’s Tom Grieve scored the lone touchdown in the corner following a nice backline move by Group 6.

The Woodbridge Cup side added two more tries by the time the match was over.

Caleb Cohen was voted best player for Woodbridge Cup, while Lachlan McLean from Moss Vale was voted as Group 6’s best player.

Woodbridge Cup officials said they were delighted to be taking part in the annual representative match.

They also said the team was excited to play at Campbelltown Stadium, which was a highlight for many of the players, who are used to playing at small rural venues each week.

It’s expected this match will become an annual event, which will benefit both competitions and the development of representative rugby league in both regions.
