For the second year in a row current and former police officers from around the Macarthur region packed their golf bags and headed to Lakeside Camden.
Last year, the inaugural event organised by the Macarthur Retired and Former Police Association of NSW raised funds for defibrillators.
This life saving equipment was installed in police vehicles at some of the local stations.
This year, it was decided to support the Menangle Rural Fire Brigade, whose captain for the past three years, James McFarlane, attended last Thursday’s golf day fundraiser.
Not only that, he brought along one of his tankers, where our photos were taken after presentations.
Mr McFarlane, who has lived at Menangle for more than 30 years, told the South West Voice that proceeds will be used by the brigade to purchase static water monitors.
The day raised $15,500, according to Stephen Reeves, current welfare officer and event manager of the association.
Association secretary treasurer Roger Ford officially welcomed guests, sponsors and supporters at the presentation of trophies and raffle prizes.
The gathering was told that the association will continue to support the Macarthur community via the annual golf day fundraiser and other initiatives.
As for the golf competition, played under the Ambrose rules, the team from Camden Police, Paul Albury, Mat West, Dan Schiavello and Shaun Baker, finished first.
Mr Reeves said the association were grateful to local businesses that had supported the event, as well as Lakeside golf club.
Hole sponsors included the Police Bank, Masterton Homes, Campbelltown Catholic Club, Southern Cross Truck Rentals and Club Menangle.
He also acknowledged donations from Sydney Airport, Darrell Lea, Big W Mac Square, NSWRL for the raffle prizes.
Thank you to Steve Reeves and Roger Ford from the Macarthur Retired and Former Police Association of NSW for organising the event and also Congratulations to the winning players.
