Harlequins above the pack in 2020 community grants list

A local rugby union club and a community group were some of the big winners from this year’s Community Building Partnership grants.

The Campbelltown Harlequins successfully applied for $50,000 that will go towards lighting and the refurbishment of kitchen facilities at the club’s home, Campbelltown Showground.

Macarthur Heights Community Group will receive $40,000 for a playground and outdoor exercise equipment at Main Ridge Park.

Another successful applicant was the Australian Foundation for Disability, which will spend the $35,7000 grant towards a backyard makeover for residents with disabilities at its Glen Alpine community home.

Ambarvale Public School will receive $30,000 for refurbishments of two amenities at the rear of the hall and St Vincent de Paul Society applied for $20,000 to refurbish a domestic violence refuge I runs.

Local MP Greg Warren, who has announced that almost $300,000 will be given to 17 organisations and charities throughout his electorate of Campbelltown.

“There is a plethora of organisations and charities throughout Campbelltown that do the best they can with limited resources and funding,” Mr Warren said.

“The Community Building Partnership program helps gives those organisations and charities a bit of a financial leg up, which in turn benefits our community too.

“I can’t wait to visit all the recipients next year to see all the completed projects.

“There is no doubt the money from the 2020 Community Building Partnership will be put to good use in Campbelltown.

“Congratulations again to every successful recipient.”
