Here’s to a Christmas full of cheer, finally

Finally, it is starting to look like there’s light at the end of the pandemic tunnel.

An incredibly rapid rate of vaccinations in the past two months has got us to a place we never thought we’d get to.

But here we are, briming with optimism that soon life will return to something like it was back in late 2019.

Most of us know that things will never be the same again, but we accept this for what it is and move on to the next chapter of our lives.

And there’s no doubt that the pandemic has changed us – for better or worse.

But as we look forward to a time without lockdowns, we accept that some things we had to do during the pandemic will have a permanent place in our future lives.

At present we see going online to order groceries, food, wine, clothes and other products as being responsible citizens because it reduces our need to physically go shopping for the things we need.

But we have to admit that we got to like it and most of us will continue to do it long after the pandemic is gone.

One of the best meals we had in our household in the past two months was a gifted dinner from a Greek restaurant in Potts Point.

It also arrived fully sealed so you knew no grubby driver’s hands were in our food and it was a delicious meal on a Saturday night.

Zoom is the other change that’s here to say for a lot of events, from weddings to funerals.

So, without further ado, here’s our Top 5 pandemic habits that will continue long into the future:

Number 1. Online shopping. Win, win, win.

Number 2. Working from home – another no brainer.

Number 3. Zoom for all those functions you’re invited to but for whatever reason you cannot attend in person.

Number 4. Kinder, gentler social media interaction, fingers crossed.

Number 5. Physical engagement with loved ones will be more precious than ever – another pandemic lesson.
