Most people visit our wonderful Australian botanic garden at Mount Annan during the day.
They pop down there for a family picnic or for bush walk, ride a bicycle or just sit in a shady spot and relax.
But when the humans go home and darkness sets in, the park comes alive with native animals and birds.
If you always wanted to check out the night life at the botanic garden, now you can.
Nocturnal Discovery Tours at the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan will be held during the first three months of 2017.
Scheduled for January 6, February 3 and March 3, 2017, these special events mean visitors can experience the gardens coming to life at night with an abundance of nocturnal creatures which call the garden home.
The tour will give a special insight into the night life of kangaroos, wallabies, owls and frogs.
Rarely seen during the day, seeing these animals in their natural habitat is a unique opportunity.
Led by a gardens tour guide, the group will follow the sounds and signs of night creatures by torchlight.
Spanning 416 hectares, the Australian Botanic Garden is Australia’s largest, and is home to more than 180 species of Australian birds and various mammals and reptiles, including Peron’s Tree Frog and the Eastern Bearded Dragon.
The Gardens are often visited for their scenic lakes, gardens, parks, walking and mountain bike tracks, but this after hours tour will allow visitors to see a new side to the extensive grounds.
Each Nocturnal Discovery Tour will run from 7.30pm to 9pm and adults or families with children older than five are welcome.
Those taking part are advised to bring a torch, enclosed shoes, insect repellent and warm clothes.
The group will meet at the Mount Annan Drive entry gate to the Botanic Garden.
