Man faces assault, firearm charges after domestic incident at Minto

A man has been arrested and charged over an alleged domestic-related assault and firearm offences in the wake of an incident at a home in Minto on Tuesday.

About 8.30pm (Tuesday, December 27), a 54-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 50-year-old woman at their home on Westmoreland Road, by punching her, dragging her by her hair and kicking her on the ground.

The woman contacted emergency services and was assisted at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, did not require further treatment.

Officers from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command attended and arrested the man.

Acting on information received, a search was conducted at the home where police allegedly located an unregistered double-barrel shotgun which was seized for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), possessing an unregistered firearm, and not keeping a firearm safely secured.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court yesterday (Wednesday, December 28).
