Campbelltown Arts Centre’s Sculpture Garden will be transformed into a creative play area for youngsters when Fisher’s Kids returns bigger and better than ever tomorrow, Sunday, November 2.
A highlight of Campbelltown City Council’s annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, Fisher’s Kids is a free event designed to give children a unique opportunity to engage with the Arts Centre in a variety of fun and creative ways.
This year’s event will include some exciting new activities from 10am to 2pm, such as a free music performance at noon featuring the band, Electric Lunchbox. Not too cutesy, not too grown up, Electric Lunchbox’s unique fusion of Rockabilly and Motown will deliver a performance that is silly, sharp and entertaining for kids and adults alike.
There will also be portrait painting workshops with Linda Brescia, performance workshops with Kate Blackmore, toy-face collages with Freya Jobbins, as well as origami boat making, watercolour painting and sketch groups in the gallery. Take a peep at the kids’ art show exhibition, or enjoy book corner, play dough and construction activities in the art studio. Once the kids tire of all things creative, there’s always the chance to refuel by purchasing snow cones.
Vote for your favourite artwork in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award exhibition for a chance to win a special prize, or explore the Arts Centre and its surrounds.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said Fisher’s Kids was a great chance for children to explore their creativity.
“Kids can get messy, be imaginative or simply have fun working with contemporary artists in all sorts of wonderful art activities,” Cr Lake said.
“Fisher’s Kids is a great way to showcase Campbelltown Arts Centre to a younger audience and forms part of our annual festival celebrations.”
