Challenge Walk
And they’re off in last year’s Challenge Walk in the Australian Botanic Garden at Mt Annan.

If you’re looking for a fun and active day out for the whole family, the Campbelltown City Challenge Walk could be just what you’re looking for early in the New Year.

Online entries are now open for the annual event at the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan on Sunday, March 11.

For more than 26 years the Challenge Walk has been encouraging locals of all ages and fitness levels to take steps towards a healthy lifestyle by taking on either a relaxed six kilometre fun walk or a more challenging 11 kilometre endurance walk.

With a variety of age divisions, four team categories – primary school, secondary school, corporate and open – and the non-competitive wheelchair category, the Challenge Walk has something for everyone.

There are trophies and awards on offer, as well as thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes up for grabs as reward for participating in the event.

Event partner, Sydney Water, will provide free water stations, and participants are encouraged to help reduce plastic waste by bringing their own water bottle to refill.

Free parking is available at the venue, or you can take advantage of the free Busabout shuttle service, departing from Campbelltown railway station at 7am.

Free child minding for children aged four to 12 years will also be available.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the scenic walk was a great way to inspire the community to make the most of the great outdoors, and stay committed to their New Year’s resolution of keeping fit.

“We’re lucky to have the spectacular botanic garden right on our doorstep, and contributing to the success of events like the Challenge Walk which has been going strong for more than two decades,” he said.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“For some families, or groups of friends, it’s a tradition to get together for the annual walk, and for those who haven’t taken part, I encourage you to come along, enjoy the camaraderie and the safe, popular form of exercise.”[/social_quote]

The pre-event entry fee is $11, and participants can register online before midnight on Wednesday, March 7. You can also register in person at the Council Civic Centre in Queen Street, Campbelltown or Eagle Vale Central by 4.30pm on Friday, March 2.

Entry forms will be available from February.

Last minute entries will be accepted on the day until 7.30am, at a fee of $22.
