The case for rail infrastructure in Macarthur and the south west region has got a timely boost.
Camden Council says that as the fastest growing local government area in NSW, it has been a strong advocate for the provision of infrastructure and public transport in the local government area.
Camden Council recently reaffirmed this position when it unanimously endorsed a submission to the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development as well as Transport for NSW on the Western Sydney Rail Needs Scoping Study.
The Scoping Study highlights both the significant implications, as well as the opportunities associated with the investigation and preservation of strategic transport corridors.
Mayor of Camden, Councillor Lara Symkowiak stressed the importance of the provision of this infrastructure to the community of Camden.
“It is imperative Camden Council continues to work with all levels of government to ensure we receive the transport infrastructure required to be an accessible community,’’ Cr Symkowiak said.
“Council’s submission outlined our strong support for the provision of rail transport from Western Sydney Airport (Badgery’s Creek) to the South West Rail Link as well as links from Macarthur and Camden to the Western Sydney Airport, and to North Western Sydney.

“It is important that the government ensures this infrastructure is delivered sooner rather than later and Camden Council made this very clear in our submission.
“The Western Sydney Rail Needs Scoping Study provides Camden Council with the opportunity to seek sustainable and well planned connections from our local government area to the broader Sydney area and I am pleased Camden Council has submitted a thorough, well thought out submission to the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and Transport for NSW.
“We look forward to continuing to work with all levels of government to ensure the provision of all public transport is delivered in a timely and efficient manner,” Cr Symkowiak said.
