The Camden Rams juggernaut continued on its merry way on the weekend with a smashing victory over neighbours Narellan Jets.
At almost the halfway point of the Macarthur Conference rugby league premiership the biggest question is who’s going to stop the Rams from running away with the title in 2024.
Last season the Rams had the premiership trophy snatched from them by the Roosters in the grand final.
But the Rams seem to have returned this season more determined than ever to claim top honours.
Top of the ladder with 16 points, only the team below them, Oakdale Workers, look likely to challenge the Rams, with the Roosters and the Mittagong Lions as the two dark horses in this race.
Oakdale prevailed over the Kangaroos at Fullwood Reserve on Sunday, while the Roosters were too strong for the Oaks Tigers.
Mittagong on the other hand had to fight hard against the South West Goannas at Onslow Oval, Camden to take home the two premiership points.
Both sides crossed the line for five tries but the Lions prevailed 28-24, thanks to superior kicking.
That was the only difference between them, with Mittagong’s former NRL star Bryson Goodwin kicking four from five, while the Goannas’ five-eighth Brad Takairangi only managed two from five attempts.
Despite the loss, there’s no doubt the spirited Goannas are a much better side this season.
Meanwhile, Camden’s winger Edward Aiono is leading the top try scorer table so far with 11 tries.
Tyrone Harding, the Narellan Jets half and the Collegians backrower Tifa Iuta share second spot with eight tries each.
