Macarthur rugby league goes into the June long weekend break after some stunning results on the weekend.
Every away team took home the two premiership points in all five matches played in round nine of the Macarthur Conference competition.
The Oakdale Workers got the ball started on Saturday night at Narellan when they defeated the Jets.
The Oaks Tigers prevailed over Campbelltown Collegians at Bradbury Oval, while East Campbelltown Eagles romped home at Onslow Oval, Camden in their match against home side, the South West Goannas.
It was a lot closer at Thirlmere (pictured above), with home side the Roosters going down narrowly to the Camden Rams.
But the visitors, who are hitting their straps at the right time, had to work hard to get the chocolates, including putting in a huge defensive effort in the second half.
Mittagong Lions were behind 12-6 after 40 minutes at Victoria Park, Picton, but roared back in the second half, to once again confirm their credentials as one of the premiership favourites of 2023.
The Lions, who are top of the ladder, will return to action in one of the biggest games of the season on Sunday, June 18 when they travel to Kirkham Park to take on Camden Rams in round 10.
With Camden now in second place, this game could very easily turn out to be a preview of the grand final.
But Camden versus Mittagong won’t be the only blockbuster on June 18.
It will be third versus fifth when The Oaks Tigers host Thirlmere Roosters on the same day.
