This paddock along Cawdor Road looks just like any other. But if everything goes to plan, in less than 12 months this 40 acre rural site located a stone’s throw from the centre of Camden will be transformed into the gleaming sport centre of excellence pictured below.

Behind the $30 million investment plan is our very own ambitious football club, Macarthur FC.

Yesterday, the Camden Council planning panel gave the development application the green light.

Sam Krslovic, the Bulls Group CEO, told the South West Voice in Macarthur today that the club was planning to have the centre of excellence up and running in time for the next A-League pre-season.

Construction work would start around December and be complete by late next year.

“This is a significant investment into the future of our club,’’ Mr Krslovic said.

“This is an important part for us as a club which is intent on winning silverware.’’

The move to Cawdor will mean the club would be fully based in Macarthur; training of the A-League side currently takes place at a Fairfield facility.

Campbelltown Stadium, where the team play their home games, is less than half an hour away from the Cawdor site.

Mr Krslovic confirmed plans were in place for a Macarthur FC A-League women’s side in the 2024-24 season.

The design of the sport centre of excellence at Cawdor includes facilities for a women’s team along with those for an academy team and the elite football department.

Four playing fields of FIFA elite level will form part of the $30m centre of excellence facility, which will also include both men’s and women’s changing rooms.

On completion, the Bulls will be the only A-League club with its own sport centre of excellence.
