Insanity Proof will be staking a claim for a spot in this year’s Fisher’s Gig.

It’s the battle of the bands and it starts this Friday night.

Local bands such as Insanity Proof, DJs and solo artists will take to the stage at Campbelltown Arts Centre from this Friday night in a hot contest to secure a highly sought after spot on stage at this year’s Fisher’s Gig.

Pre-selection heats on Friday and Saturday, June 12-13, will see young performers across a range of music genres go head to head in an effort to impress the crowd and judging panel, with the audience vote playing a key part in determining the final line-up for the November 7 event at Bradbury Oval.

Insanity Proof (IP), a rock/metal band from Macarthur formed in 2012, when original band member and school-mates (Macarthur Anglican School) Zac Ball, Andre Ponniah and William Rogan- Johnstone decided to start a rock band.

In 2014, Andre Ponniah (drums) departed and two new faces came aboard: Nathan Craigie (Campbelltown Performing Arts) and Josh Sanchez (Magdelene High School).

In March 2015, IP gained their newest member, Nelson Funes- Gonzalez (Campbelltown Performing Arts).

The band have a wide range of influences, including: Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, Stone Sour, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica and Slash.

Insanity Proof will be performing this Friday night in the 2015 Fisher’s Gig pre-selection heats at the Campbelltown Arts Centre.

The annual all ages music festival has established itself as the largest of its kind in south west Sydney and is a highlight of Campbelltown City Council’s annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, which this year celebrates 60 years.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said Fisher’s Gig and the pre-selection heat process provided an avenue for young local performers to showcase their talent to the wider community.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“The heats provide a unique opportunity to see live entertainment at its best as performers vie for a chance to be included in the line-up for south west Sydney’s largest all ages music festival, where they’ll have the chance to perform alongside renowned national artists,” Cr Lake said.[/social_quote]

“Fisher’s Gig is one of our city’s drawcard events, which continues to launch young music careers and showcase our region’s wealth of talent, and this year the atmosphere will be boosted further given the
60 year celebration of our city’s largest community festival.”

Pre-sale tickets cost $10 and can be purchased from Campbelltown City Council or directly from the performers. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the night for $12.

The pre-selection heat on Friday will be held from 6pm to 11pm, and the Saturday heat will be held from 6pm to 10.30pm (doors open from 5.30pm).

The event is drug and alcohol free and proudly supported by Indent.
