The Mayor of Campbelltown has welcomed $2 million in funding for stage one of the Badgally Road upgrade from Eagle Vale Drive to Blaxland Road.
Cr Paul Hawker joined federal major projects minister Paul Fletcher and Macarthur MP Russell Matheson when they announced this morning that the funding will be available if the Turnbull Government is re-elected on July 2.
“This section of road is another vital piece of the local infrastructure network that will play a key role in improving the connectivity within our city, and securing the resilience of our road network in preparation for growth,” Cr Hawker said.
“The recognition of Badgally Road as a major connection to the upgraded Eagle Vale Drive, and an important transport corridor servicing Campbelltown and south west Sydney residents and businesses, is essential to the future of our city’s road network, and council is ready to commence work on the upgrade project as soon as funding becomes available,” Mayor Hawker said.
For his part, Mr Fletcher said that the duplication of Badgally Road from Eagle Vale Drive to Blaxland Road was a vital project for Macarthur because it will improve links to Campbelltown CBD and major transport routes.

Macarthur MP Russell Matheson said: “Badgally Road is a key link road connecting Campbelltown to the M31 via the nearly completed $17.5 million Eagle Vale Drive upgrade, and will provide a fourth east-west connection to Camden.
“This critical piece of infrastructure will allow Campbelltown to develop as a regional city by opening up the western side of the CBD, and reinvigorating Queen Street and the city centre.”
The Badgally Road funding comes on top of the Turnbull Government’s $50 million commitment for the upgrade of Appin Road.
