SWSLHD Carers’ Program and the Autism Advisory and Support Service are holding a joint seminar on autism for workers, local community organisations and carers.
The five main issues the seminar will cover are:
Autism – characteristics and difficulties for those who have autism;
Strategies and skills for improved communication;
Ways to respond and de-escalate anxiety and distress for people who have autism;
A carer’s lived experience;
Community resources and support options.
Speakers include Claire Dobson CNC (Clinical Nurse Consultant) who is a registered nurse and a continence nurse who will be discussing toileting issues for individuals with autism.
Grace Fava of the Autism Advisory & Support Service, poictured, will speak on an Overview of Autism
(including the school experience and Medicare financial supports).
The seminar will be held in Conference Room 2, Thomas & Rachael Moore Education Centre, Liverpool Hospital this Monday, October 27 between 9am and 1pm.
