Work is under way on a major upgrade of the Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre to make it an even more attractive facility for locals and visitors.
The works will see an extension of the grandstand with more seating and new weather protection measures, as well as the renovation and modernisation of the current café.
With more than 176,000 visitors to the facility in the past 12 months, these upgrades will enhance the experience for the growing number of people using the centre each year.
Located a stone’s throw from the Campbelltown Billabong Parklands, the aquatic centre is named after a former mayor, the late Gordon Fetterplace.
More than 34 local schools, two swim clubs, sporting zones and the South West Sydney Metropolitan School Sports Association use it for their various activities.
“Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is a cornerstone facility for our swimming community, both locally and regionally, and this upgrade will benefit not only the Campbelltown LGA, but the Macarthur area as well,” says the current Mayor of Campbelltown, Coucillor Darcy Lound.
“This is an investment to ensure the experience of everyone who walks through the doors at Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is comfortable, high-quality, and enjoyable,” Mayor Lound said.

The Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre upgrade is funded by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program to the tune of just over $3 million.
“Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is an iconic community facility and this upgrade will provide significant benefit to the thousands of visitors from Campbelltown and our region more broadly,’’ said Member for Campbelltown, Mr Greg Warren, on behalf of the NSW Government.
The upgrade is scheduled for completion at the end of this year, weather permitting.
