Raby resident Ray James has today been named in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Mr James has received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to veterans and their families.
He is among 457 Australians who have received OAMs this year, and one of just two local residents to receive honours.
Mr James now joins his wife, Pauline, who earlier this year also received an Australia Day OAM for services to veterans, their families and the community.

Mr James, who has been the acting president of NSW state branch of the RSL since last year, served in the Australian Navy for 20 years and is also a Vietnam veteran.
He was president of the Ingleburn sub-branch from 2011 to 2019, where he has been a member since 2005.
Mr James has served on several other veterans affairs related committees over many years, including the Victory in the Pacific committee, where he is the current chairman since 2018 and has been a delegate for almost 20 years.
He has also been the president of the Macarthur sub-branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia since 2014.
Mr James has also served on community committees, including the traffic committee of Campbelltown City Council since 2007 and several others.
Ingleburn Lions club member Keith Charles Kent was also awarded an OAM for service to the community.
Mr Kent has twice been president of the Lions club of Ingleburn and also served as treasurer.
He received Lions life membership in 1998 and has been a member since 1976.
Before that he was president and treasurer of the Lions club of Liverpool.
Mr Kent has also been involved in the community through the Festival of Fishers Ghost and Macquarie Fields Public School P&C association and other committees.
