The commanding officer of 303 squadron of the Australian Air Force Cadets, Frank Galea, has received a Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours for services to youth.
Mr Galea, of Douglas Park, who has been involved with the cadets and the Royal Australian Air Force Reserves as a volunteer since 1978, is one of three Macarthur residents whose contributions have been recognised in the 2016 honours.
John Russell, of Gilead, also received a Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for services to the community of Campbelltown over many years.
Ms Kwi Lan NG, who has run the Appin pharmacy for almost 20 years has also received a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community of Appin.
♦ Mr Galea’s record of service with the Australian Air Force Cadets includes holding many roles.
He has been the Commanding Officer, No 303 Squadron since 2006 and executive officer for the past five years.
He was a volunteer at the organisation between 1978 and 2006.
♦ John Clifford has held executive roles with Campbelltown Uniting Church and its outreach programs for more than 30 years.
These include chair of Cottage Family Care Centre and Stepping Stone Accommodation.
Mr Clifford is the founder of Hurley House and member of the management Committee for Focus on Families.
He has also been the honorary treasurer and board member of Campbelltown UnitingCare, since 2002.
♦ Ms Kwi Lan Ng, who has run the Appin Pharmacy since 1997 is also an assessor with the Home Medicine Review Program and a member of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
She is also a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, the Appin Chamber of Commerce and a supporter of the Appin Historical Society.
♦ In the South West Sydney region, George Ghossayn, of Chipping Norton received a Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours, for service to the Lebanese community of NSW and to philanthropy.
