Youth Solutions is very, very McHappy, and why wouldn’t they be.
Between June 14 and 24 more than $28,000 was raised in McDonald’s outlets across Macarthur and it will all go to the local youth organisation.
The money was raised through the sale of $2 tokens as part of the 2017 McHappy Time.
Campbelltown and Macarthur residents were enthusiastic supporters of the drive, which raised $28,476 for Youth Solutions.
Its chief executive officer Geraldine Dean was ecstatic with the result.
“We are blown away by the amount raised and the level of support we have received,” Mrs Dean said.
“We cannot thank McDonald’s in Macarthur enough for selecting Youth Solutions as the beneficiary of this fantastic community program.
“We’d also like to thank all of the wonderful community members who purchased the $2 tokens.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“The $28,476 raised will do incredible things for our charity. It will help us to strengthen our programs, utilise additional resources and in essence, it will mean we can reach more local young people with our important drug and alcohol prevention and education programs and messages,” Mrs Dean said.[/social_quote]
Peter Meadows, the owner operator of McDonald’s in Macarthur, said: “McDonald’s Macarthur are proud to partner with Youth Solutions to raise these much-needed funds. We would like to thank the community for their contributions to the success of this initiative.
“As an employer of over 2,000 employees in the Macarthur area, McDonald’s Macarthur are proud to have worked as ambassadors for Youth Solutions raising these funds to support the future of our youth in our community. The initiative has also enabled us to educate and raise awareness of our staff on the services and support that Youth Solutions can provide,” Mr Meadows said.
Youth Solutions advisory group member Samantha McAuley said the McHappy Time program also gave Youth Solutions’ staff and volunteers a great opportunity to chat with young people and community members, particularly during the in-store fun day.
“We were able to share some information about alcohol and other drugs, making safer choices and how to get help and support if you need it,” Miss McAuley said.
