Jonathan Lendon will be an outstanding representative of local young people in the NSW Youth Parliament, says MP Greg Warren, left.

Our newest youth “MP” says he will be the voice of local young people.

Campbelltown Performing Arts High captain Jonathan Lendon has been named the Youth Member for Campbelltown in the NSW Youth Parliament.

“It’s an honour to have this opportunity to be a voice for the many issues confronting young people in our region and encourage any of our local young people to come to me with any issues or ideas,” Jonathan said yesterday.

The Youth Parliament is part of the YMCA NSW Youth & Government (Y&G) program widely acknowledged for empowering and supporting young people to reach their potential.

Jonathan, the youngest of three children, was nominated and supported for the position by Campbelltown MP Greg Warren.

“Jonathan has a passion for social issues and the challenges confronting young people today,” Mr Warren said.

“Empowering young people and giving them the opportunity to speak up and become the leaders of today, tomorrow and the future in our community is so important.”

The Campbelltown MP met Jonathan last year when he hosted Campbelltown school leaders on a tour of NSW Parliament House.

“We have so many amazing students and youth leaders in our city and region, they’re all fantastic and Jonathan is a great example of that and will be an exceptional representative,” Mr Warren said.

Jonathan, a Glen Alpine resident, highlighted social inclusion, equality, good access to education and mental health amongst youth as some of the issues he looked forward to focusing on.

“I thank Mr Warren for his support and this unique opportunity.’’
