MP Greg Warren, the member for the epicentre of the south west, demands answers from the planning minister.
Planning minister Rob Stokes called Campbelltown the epicentre of the south west when announcing plans for Wilton New Town recently.

The NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes could probably win a Top 10 most unpopular politician poll in Campbelltown.

After copping a blast yesterday for allowing a hearing on the proposed cemetery at Varroville, Mr Stokes is now being asked to back up a recent statement that Campbelltown was the “epicentre’’ of the south west region of the Sydney metropolitan area.

The cemetery blast came from Labor MP Anoulack Chanthivong (Macquarie Fields).

Another Labor member, Greg Warren, has challenged Mr Stokes to respond to a list of 10 issues affecting this region.

Mr Warren asked this question in parliament:

“In light of Minister Rob Stokes’ recent announcement rightfully acknowledging Campbelltown as the epicentre of the southwest, can the minister advise:

1) What plans with subsequent timelines and costings are in place to deliver dual carriage way upgrades on Appin Road to the 10.4km stretch south of Fitzgibbon Lane?

2) If the minister has made any representations regarding the federal government’s $50 million commitment to upgrade Appin road and has the minister had any consultations with his federal counterpart in regards to the scope of works and subsequent timelines?

3) The timelines for the promised 450 car park spaces at Campbelltown Train station (this is for the minister for transport)?

4) When works are scheduled to begin for the Spring Farm link road – specifically connecting Appin Road to the Hume highway?

5)  What provisions are planned for the Raby Road and Eagle Vale Drive intersection in light of the Eagle Vale Drive upgrade; and the increased volume that will occur as an outcome to the Gregory Hills Drive/Badgally Road connection?

6) Of any planned intentions by the government to provide a rail overpass connecting Badgally Road and Broughton Street?

7) In light of the 2014 promise “All train services along the Cumberland Line will be air-conditioned by mid-2014”, can the minister advise why this is not the case on the Campbelltown to Parramatta rail service and what plans with timelines are in place to remedy the issue?

8) Will the minister commit to reviewing the carriage allocation and timetable of the Campbelltown to Parramatta rail service in light of its inadequacy for rail commuters and the current inconsistency with commuter requirements?

9) Is the minister aware that the Campbelltown to Wollongong bus service requires review and more resourcing and if not will he commit to do so?

10) Is the minister aware that the Campbelltown community is outraged at the Baird government’s decision to remove the motor registry and the newly installed hub in Macarthur Square is inadequate and dysfunctional? If so, what action will the minister take to address the issue and if not please be advised and take action and advise.
