Police are appealing for public assistance after a woman was stabbed twice during a home invasion this morning.
Emergency services were called to a home in Styles Crescent, Minto around 8.30am after reports that a woman had been stabbed.
Officers from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command arrived to find a 45-year-old woman who had suffered two wounds.
The woman was treated at the scene and conveyed by Ambulance Paramedics to Campbelltown Hospital in a stable condition.
Investigators have been told that two males entered the home through the back door and were confronted by the resident.
The males had their faces covered, one wearing a balaclava and one with a shirt tied around his head.
They were armed with a hammer and a knife.
The woman became involved in a physical altercation with one of the males and pulled the shirt from his face after which he allegedly stabbed her.
The woman suffered a minor stab wound to her right chest and a laceration to her left hand.
Both males fled over a rear fence with the woman’s mobile phone.
Police attended and were assisted by the dog squad and the Polair helicopter during a search of the area. Several items have been seized by investigators for further forensic examination including the shirt grabbed by the woman.
The males are both described as being in their late teens or early 20s with a slim build.
One wore a dark hoodie with a balaclava and had blue eyes.
