Young woman dies in noon crash on the Hume

A young woman has died following a crash near Picton yesterday.

Just after midday emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, near Picton Road, at Wilton, following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers from Camden Police Area Command have been told that a car allegedly swerved to avoid another car and rolled.

Despite the efforts of responding police and NSW Ambulance paramedics, the rear passenger of the car that rolled died at the scene.

While she is yet to be formally identified, the woman is believed to be aged in her 20s.

The driver of the car that rolled and the driver of the other vehicle allegedly involved were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment and for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, and investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, anyone with dashcam vision or further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police will prepare a report outlining the circumstances of the woman’s death for the information of the Coroner.

In a separate incident, a police operation has concluded with a five people taken into custody at Liverpool in the early of this morning.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to Charles Street shortly after 2am following reports a gunshot had been heard.

Police established a perimeter around a block of units and called specialist officers to the scene including negotiators.

A woman was arrested about 2.15am when she left the building.

The operation ended about 5.40am with a further two women and two men taken into custody; all have been taken to Liverpool Police Station.

There have been no reports of injury.

A crime scene warrant will be executed at the location with detectives from Liverpool City PAC now investigating.
