If you are older or have a disability and are facing an emergency, who are you gonna call for help?
Campbelltown City Council and local emergency services will host an Open Access Forum next month to help seniors and people with disability in the community prepare for an emergency in the lead-up to the bushfire and storm season.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said the forum provided an opportunity for seniors and people with disability to learn about the assistance available in making their homes as safe as possible.
“Being prepared for an emergency, particularly in the lead-up to the storm or bushfire season, is something we should all give consideration to – and act upon,” Cr Lake said.
“For seniors and people with disability in our community, it’s essential that they not only have a plan in the event of an emergency, but know how to activate it.
“Council is proud to present this latest forum in partnership with police and local emergency services to give some of the most vulnerable members of our community access to information and resources on being prepared, and the reassurance that they’re not alone when it comes to dealing with an emergency.

At last year’s forum on emergency management, services present on the day were able to assist a participant with an electrical problem within 24 hours, and repair a special fire alarm to ensure that it functioned correctly – potentially save a life.
The latest forum will feature an interactive workshop, emergency management services panel discussion and information stalls. Refreshments will be provided.
The Open Access Forum will be held from 10am to 1pm on Monday, July 13 at the Greg Percival Community Centre, corner of Oxford and Cumberland Roads, Ingleburn.
