Three Wests Tigers stars will help launch the 2016 Dry July campaign at Campbelltown Hospital.
Elijah Taylor, Sauaso Sue and Tim Simona will cook the barbecue at the launch tomorrow, Thursday, June 30, from noon.
All funds raised during Dry July go to the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre and its patients.
The Dry July campaign encourages people to give up alcohol for a month.
But it’s done for a good cause as Dry July raises funds for Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre.
Taking part in Dry July gives people the chance to also focus on their health by noticing their own drinking habits and the value of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Alcohol is a significant risk factor for some cancers, particularly those of the mouth, pharynx, larynx, oesophagus, breast, bowel and liver.
According to the Cancer Council Australia, each year in Australia it is estimated that anywhere between 2,182 and 6,620 cases of cancer are attributable to long-term, chronic use of alcohol.
All funds raised will directly impact the lives of people being treated for cancer through wellness programs. Some of these programs include massage services, yoga, art workshops, meditation and exercise, a water feature and landscaping for the garden outside the hospital’s chemotherapy suite.
