After their Easter Monday miracle win against the Eels, Wests Tigers return to Parramatta this Saturday night to take on South Sydney.
Michael Maguire’s men will be looking for their second win of the season in the round seven clash.
Play like they did in their 21-20 win against Parramatta – one of the premiership favourites – and Wests Tigers will surely have stats of two wins, five losses around 9.30pm on Saturday night.
It’s a pity this “home’’ game is at Parramatta, but at least it looks like this could be the last season of this arrangement.
The reality is, though, that it would have been much better if the team were running out at either Campbelltown or Leichhardt this Saturday night against the Bunnies.
But it is what it is and getting some consistency in performances week to week will be the focus for players and the coaching staff.
In naming his 24-player squad for Saturday’s game Maguire has not made any changes from the side that recorded the first win of the season.
And it has to be put on the record that finally under performing players like James Tamou, James Roberts, Ken Maumolo and Daine Laurie put their hand up yesterday against the Eels.
Campbelltown’s own David Nofoaluma was another who had a blinder, scoring two tries and defending like his life depended on it.
Indeed, so many of them played so well it would be impossible to name one of them as man of the match.
And of course we do like this Jackson Hastings fellow, not least because in a post match TV interview he told the Luke Brooks haters to bugger off.
His drop goal to win the game was also not bad.
Not bad at all.
