Wests Group Macarthur has once again partnered with local charity Big Yellow Umbrella to support local families in need this Christmas.
This year’s Giving Tree Appeal will be running from November 2 to December 4.
Wests Group Macarthur and Big Yellow Umbrella are encouraging the community to embrace the spirit of giving by donating new, unwrapped Christmas gifts for children and teenagers aged up to 18 years.
Gifts can be placed underneath the Giving Trees, located at Wests League Club Leumeah, Country Club Gledswood Hills, as well as Narellan Town Centre.
Big Yellow Umbrella works across the Macarthur region through expressions of interest to ensure the Giving Tree initiative reaches those connected to community services in the lead-up to Christmas.
These services include but are not limited to the Tharawal Brighter Futures program, Campbelltown Police, Baptist Care family services Elderslie, Indigability, Empowering Women’s Foundation and other case managed families who are engaged with food relief and case management services.
There’s no need to label or gift tag donations, as the Big Yellow Umbrella team will carefully match each gift to a recipient based on where the need is greatest at the time of distribution.
Recognising the financial pressures facing many families, a suggested gift limit of $20 applies. For those who prefer to make a monetary contribution, donations of up to $20 can also be made at Wests Group Macarthur reception tills, enabling the Big Yellow Umbrella team to purchase practical gifts on their behalf.
“The state of the national economy is impacting families like never before; we are seeing a greater demand for our Hamper House crisis support program, mental health supports, and youth outreach programs,’’ says Kim Landouw from Big Yellow Umbrella.
“The cost of living is far beyond the reach of many local Macarthur families, and the financial stress is being felt by many.
“A small gesture from a complete stranger could be the lift someone needs to let them know they are not alone.
“If you can give during this hard time, please know your kind donation will go toward putting a smile on the face of a local Macarthur-based family this Christmas.”
Following the gift collection period, Wests invites community volunteers to join them for the Giving Tree gift wrapping day, taking place at The Sherwood on Tuesday, December 7 and whereby all donated gifts will be labelled, wrapped, and presented to Big Yellow Umbrella for distribution in time for Christmas Day.
“With so many families still doing it tough, we’re proud to bring back this appeal in 2026 to help ensure children and families across Macarthur can share in the excitement and joy of Christmas,’’ says Wests Group chairman Alan Buxton.
“We are also really proud of the volunteer gift wrapping day where all the gifts are wrapped, as a way for us all to connect and lend a hand this Christmas.”
