More than $11 million will be spent on water and wastewater services in Wollondilly Shire in the next 12 months.
The money was allocated in this year’s NSW Government Budget.
The funding for Sydney Water will ensure high quality, reliable water and wastewater services continue to support population growth in the Wollondilly area.
“Much of this expenditure will be on investigating options to provide new water and wastewater infrastructure and to service development in Wilton and Wilton New Town to provide for the potential construction of 16,500 new homes,’’ says the State Member for Wollondilly, Jai Rowell.
“There will also be an upgrade of the Picton Wastewater Treatment Plant to service new connections and growth in the area,’’ he said.

“This is all happening while at the same time Sydney Water customers have received a reduction in their water bills of around $100 this year.
“These reductions to customers’ bills will continue over this four year cycle to 2020,” Mr Rowell said.
More than $600 million was included in the 2017-18 NSW budget to enable Sydney Water to expand, maintain, renew and upgrade its network across Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra, which includes 46,355 kilometres of water and wastewater pipes, 841 pumping stations, 251 reservoirs, and 29 wastewater treatment and recycling plants.
