Calling Macarthur’s young musicians – expressions of interest are open for the annual Fisher’s Gig heats competition.

Yes, it’s already that time of the year again and Campbelltown City Council is seeking expressions of interest from bands and solo performers to take part in the heats, to be held on Saturday, July 28.

The audience and judges will vote to determine which performers will perform in Fisher’s Gig during the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost on Saturday, November 4.

The competition is open to performers aged 12 to 24, who must live, work or study in the Macarthur region.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, encouraged local musicians and singers to take part in the Fisher’s Gig heats.

“Campbelltown is home to some extraordinarily talented young people,” he said.

“Performing at Fisher’s Gig is a great opportunity for local musicians to hone their stagecraft, perform in front of a live audience in a professional environment, and have fun.

“It also provides an opportunity to be noticed and may be a launching pad to a career in the music industry.

“The first step to performing in Fisher’s Gig as part of the annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, is to take part in Fisher’s heats.

“I urge all young musicians in the Macarthur region to download the expression of interest application and submit the completed form by Monday, June 4.”
