Buying goods economically and sustainably has never been easier with a new op shop opening in Camden.

Last weekend, Vinnies opened its doors in Camden for the first time, joining nearby Lifeline and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard in the Camden CBD.

Phil Coyte from St Vincent de Paul Society NSW said funds raised through the shop will help to provide services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, facing financial hardship due to the rising cost of living, and other forms of disadvantage.

“We’re pleased to finally bring the Camden community the excitement that customers get every time they come to our Vinnies shops,” he said.

“It’s a one-of-a-kind experience of having the thrill of hunting for hidden treasure and at the same time supporting our work to assist people in need, while also making a positive environmental impact.”

Mr Coyte encouraged locals who were interested in volunteering with Vinnies Camden to apply online at www.vinnies.org.au/nswshopvolunteers or visit the store to meet the team in person.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said op shops were always a great addition to the Camden area.

“Op shops are a great way for you to snag a bargain, support a charity and reduce what goes into landfill by giving items a second life,” she said.

“I’d like to welcome Vinnies to Camden and encourage everyone to visit an op shop near you.”

Vinnies Camden is at 118 Argyle Street, Camden.
