Krystle Latulipe and her grandfather Peter, 92, were among the first residents to walk into the Catherine Park vaccination clinic and receive their jabs.

Now the Harrington Park residents hope others in the Pasifika community will follow their lead.

Ms Latulipe said it was easy and painless to get vaccinated at the clinic at Catherine Park Community Centre.

On top of that they could just drop-in at a convenient time because there is no need to make an appointment,

“We are at the stage now in the Covid-19 pandemic that the Delta strain is very contagious so we decided to come down and get vaccinated to protect ourselves, our extended family members and the wider community,’’ Ms Latulipe said.

“There is a lot of misinformation about Covid-19 on social media but if people come down to the clinic they can talk to a doctor, nurses and cultural support workers and get the right answers.

“I ask people to seriously consider getting vaccinated if they want more freedoms and to go back to their normal lives.’’

South Western Sydney Local Health District Chief Executive Amanda Larkin said that in addition to the Catherine Park vaccination clinic, a further six walk-in clinics were operating in suburbs across the region to bring the vaccine closer to the community.

“We want to provide every opportunity for residents and community members to have access to the Covid-19 vaccine closer to their homes and at a time and location that suits them and their needs,’’ Ms Larkin said.

“People can simply walk into the mobile clinics and get vaccinated. They don’t have to make an appointment.’’

More than 150,000 vaccinations have now been administered across the South Western Sydney Local Health District.

Across NSW, more than five million doses have been given with the target of reaching 6 million vaccinations by the end of August.

The Catherine Park vaccination clinic opens every Wednesday and Thursday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
