Campbelltown will host not one but two famous authors next month.

The first will be a local, Amanda Howard, who will launch her new book, Killer Australia: Death and Destruction Down Under, at HJ Daley Library on Wednesday, March 8 from 6pm.

Amanda is a true crime author, fiction writer and serial killer expert.

She has a regular segment on the Studio 10 program and has appeared on various other television documentaries.

The second author who will drop in on us is well known for many things, including wearing a red bandana for some years.

Columnist and author Peter FitzSimons will talk about his most recent book, The Great Aussie Bloke Slim-Down, at Greg Percival Community Centre in Ingleburn on Monday, March 13 from 6pm.

He will lead the audience through the fads that failed him, the diets that died fast and left him furious, and the ways his waistline kept the belt industry in business.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the author visits would be a great opportunity for Campbelltown audiences to hear first hand from two prolific writers of very different genres.

“Peter FitzSimons is a former Australian rugby player, the chair of the Australian Republican Movement, a well known journalist and public speaker, in addition to being the author of 27 best-selling books,” he said.

“His talk will not only be entertaining, but full of useful anecdotes and advice on how to lose weight.

“Amanda Howard also has many books to her credit, including fiction, non-fiction and short stories, and the launch of her latest book, Killer Australia: Death and Destruction Down Under, at the HJ Daley Library, is a coup for Campbelltown City.

“As a local author, I’m sure Amanda also has insights for Campbelltown residents interested in pursuing a writing career.”

Both events are free but bookings are essential. To book, contact 4645 4444.
