Camden Council has added six more parks and playgrounds to its list for upgrades and improvements this financial year.

It has allocated $500,000 to the refurbishment and redevelopment of the facilities and amenities at reserves across the Camden area.

“These parks have been identified for various renewal works to improve their value and appeal to the community,” says Mayor Lara Symkowiak.

“I’ve made it clear that a priority of this council will be investment into sport and recreation facilities.

“Council cares about renewing and reinvigorating public spaces in older parts of our LGA and this project certainly proves this.

“While we have many new residents in new suburbs moving in, I’m delighted this project focusses on upgrading assets in our older areas,” Cr Symkowiak said.

“I’m aware of many other parks in need of upgrade but they can’t all be done at once, this list is certainly a very good start with the budget we have,” she said.

“We want to be sure that our neighbourhood parks and recreational spaces offer the local communities quality facilities and a place to interact, exercise and relax.”

The six parks added to the list are:

Manna Gum Reserve, Narallan Vale – playground upgrade and landscaping;

Flinders Reserve, Camden South – playground upgrade and landscaping;

Lawson Reserve, Camden South – playground upgrade and landscaping;

Liquidamber Reserve, Narellan Vale – playground improvements and carpark extension;

Catherine Fields Reserve, Catherine Fields – one tennis court will be converted to a multipurpose court and the remaining tennis court will be refurbished;

Rotary Reserve, Camden South – toilet block will be removed and some landscaping completed.
