From the seventh floor of the tower rising out of the old squash court site in Dumaresq Street you can see the apartment buildings opposite Hoxton Park Road in Liverpool.
And as you turn around to the west, south and east, the views are just as spectacular.
Saxon Developments, the local family company behind the Dumaresq Street project, invited the South West Voice in Macarthur to check out the construction progress of what is the first commercial tower in Campbelltown for 25 years.
We took them up on their offer and yesterday at noon up we went with a company representative and a member of the TQM construction team.
On the fifth floor we were informed that’s as far as the lift would take us and we would have to walk up the rest of the way.
Since the main point of the exercise was to check out the views from the seventh floor, we did what we were told and trundled up flight of stairs after flights of stairs until there was nowhere else to go.
The seventh floor is the half way mark of the 14 storey tower, but it’s also the start of the residential section.
Commercial space will take up the first six floors, with the next eight storeys containing a mix of apartments, including studio and two bedroom units.
There are also four floors of underground parking.
The company representative told the Voice completion was scheduled for early May 2023.
“We lost four months because of the terrible weather,” he said.
When complete, the building will be a shade over 50 metres in height.
A roof top garden with all the trimmings is a feature of this building that many people are already talking about in town.
But this tower will be all quality, a clear goal of Saxon Developments, who have stated in the past they want Campbelltown to be proud of the end product.
They have the right builder in TQM, who picked up a four gold star rating from the Independent Construction Industry Rating Tool (iCIRT) in September.
And the magnificent views, well, they’re guaranteed.
