Camden Golf Club will host a qualifying round of the 2016 NSW Open on September 29-30.

Camden Golf Club will host a regional qualifying event for the NSW Open Golf Championship this year.

It is part of a three year partnership between Camden Council and Golf NSW.

Camden is one of eight regions in NSW selected to host this event.

The 2016 qualifying round in Camden, to be held on Thursday and Friday, September 29-30, will attract some of the State’s best golfers.

It will also showcase the top class course of Camden Golf Club.

The public are encouraged to go along to Camden Golf Club and watch the tournament both days, with first day tee off at 12 noon on the Thursday.

The Kel Nagle Cup, which is the official trophy for the NSW Open Golf Championship, will be available for the public to view at Camden Council’s new Oran Park administration building, on Monday and Tuesday, September 26-27.

Council says bringing the event here will provide a boost to local tourism.

“This three year agreement with NSW Golf demonstrates council’s commitment to strengthening and supporting the tourism industry through partnerships, programs and destination marketing,’’ the council said in a media statement.

“Hosting these events over three years will not only bring increased visitors to our region but also showcase one of Camden’s many great sporting assets.

“It will also reaffirm Camden Council’s commitment to economic development and the support of local business.’’
