Recognition: Brian Aitken, 2013 Macarthur Volunteer of the Year, with Mr Matheson.

There’s only three weeks left to nominate a worthy volunteer for the 2014 National Volunteer Awards – Macarthur.

Macarthur MP Russell Matheson is hosting the awards to recognise hard working volunteers in Macarthur.

Organisations and community groups from across Macarthur have sent in their nomination forms to Mr Matheson’s office since the campaign began in August.

Mr Matheson said there was still time to nominate and there were so many worthy volunteers in Macarthur that should be recognised.

“It doesn’t take long to fill out the form so I encourage everyone who knows a volunteer or who works with a volunteer to nominate before November 1,” he said.

I’ve been to visit many community groups and organisations around Macarthur recently and so many of them rely on volunteers to help get the work done. Now is the time to thank these hard workers for everything they do and I am delighted to be able to recognise them with these awards.”

Mr Matheson will host an award ceremony on December 5 this year to recognise Macarthur’s local volunteers who have made an extraordinary contribution to the community, including volunteer of the year.

Pick up nomination forms from Mr Matheson’s electorate office at 47 Argyle Street, Camden.
