It was a case of another game at Campbelltown Stadium, another heart breaking loss for the Wests Tigers last night.
The 26-24 defeat to the Warriors means the Tigers are two wins from four NRL premiership matches so far this season.
Both defeats have been by just two points, and both suffered at Campbelltown.
What was particularly noticeable last night was that the black and gold jerseys were in the minority in the stands, and on the two hills behind the goalposts.
In other words, there were more Warriors fans in attendance than Wests Tigers supporters. And there were many seats empty, as well.
The weather would not have helped – it was alternately gusty winds or showers much of the day in Campbelltown and across the Macarthur region.
But the best of fans support their team, rain, hail or shine.
Unless of course the cost of tickets is beyond ridiculous: which is exactly what is charging $35 for a child to sit on the hill.
Shane Richardson, [Wests Tigers CEO] you’ve got to be kidding.
I think looking at such prices it’s fair to ask if the Tigers are really serious about Campbelltown or do they just want to plunder our vast juniors base?
And something else along the same lines: the footy team, the coach and his entourage, they are all invisible in this part of the joint venture.
There’s no build up to home games at Campbelltown, no fan days, no media days, they just rock up a few hours before kick off, play for the 80 minutes, shower and leave.
Well, it’s no surprise then that the results here at Campbelltown are nothing to write home about.
Whatever their real intentions are, the Wests Tigers are shooting themselves in the foot with regard to how they treat their Campbelltown fans.
Oh, and this year they are also asking these fans to travel to Parramatta for home games.
I hear the ticket prices are much cheaper to attend at Parramatta, in the heart of the enemy, the Eels.
Richo, pull the other one, mate.
Why the hell is everyone talking about Luai and his head high tackle?
Was I the only one watching the first half?
for Forty minutes the Warriors held the Tigers down in nearly every tackle and Tigers just got one measly penalty.
They wonder why the Tigers got frustrated.
I enjoyed both games at Campbelltown stadium as a west’s tigers fan it was disappointing not to get a couple wins but the team is improving. I take my grandson to the nrl and A league games and I feel that the admission cost is keeping many supporters away . The crowd of 12000 on dismal Sunday evening was pretty good.
It was a good game with a win deserved by Warriors the crowds were good but many of the traditional Tiger supporters followed their home town warriors. Children should enter for free!
That’s right. The curse of Campbelltown. Move the games back to Tiger territory!
I was at the game and reckon more games at Campbelltown (6) and 4 at Leichhardt.
Absolutely not, c-town will never replace Leichhardt, I’d sooner drive to Manly to watch the boys play!
I’m from the Hawkesbury and am a supporter of the Beloved WESTS TIGERS.
I’ve been to lots of WESTS TIGERS matches at the Wonderful Campbelltown Stadium. I agree that there Definitely isn’t enough Passion by the Wests Tigers Management towards the MacArthur and an Exciting week build up for a Campbelltown Stadium Wests Tigers match.
Many people who live in the MacArthur are very frustrated by this. I can understand why they feel DISCONNECTED from being involved with their WESTS TIGERS.
After all, the Wests Tigers Club very much also represents the MacArthur (Or Does It Not?).
Penrith is around 32 kms from Campbelltown, so why not also have regular matches at Campbelltown Stadium between WESTS TIGERS and Penrith and call it the Battle of the South West v Far West?
Tickets into the match are too expensive, (can’t control the weather), reduce food/beverage prices.
Remember WESTS TIGERS Management, how many past and present WESTS TIGERS NRL Players (a lot of them fantastic players) have represented our magnificent club, that have come from the Macarthur.
Macarthur has also an ever growing population and it is a Rugby League heartland.
Please look after the Valuable contribution that the Macarthur has invested in the WESTS TIGERS Club.
Is This Too Much To Ask?
Love the tigers but their defence at times is very poor they need one around the legs and one to wrap the ball up if they get that right the tries will come. Last season I couldn’t watch a game as they were so poor in defence letting try after try in much better this season . I
Live down the coast but don’t go to games .
Give it to the broncos this weekend
I guess you just can’t please everyone with where you play I have been to all 3 stadium and I live on the central coast.
Support the team and get over the location.
