A tenacious win by the Campbelltown City Kangaroos over Picton was one of the highlights of round two of the Macarthur Conference premiership.

The 30-28 victory was the first time the Kangaroos had won in Picton since 2013.

Camden Rams also recorded a solid win, defeating East Campbelltown Eagles 40-22, pictured above.

The other round two winners were Oakdale Workers, who were too strong for new boys Campbelltown Collegians, as were Oaks Tigers in their clash with Narellan.

The Thirlmere Roosters were too good for Mittagong, winning 44-10.

Back at Victoria Park, Picton, the home side were ahead 20-6 early, thanks to a masterclass from their huge signing, Australian International Tony Williams.

The Kangaroos kept their composure and struck back in the shadows of halftime with a well-taken try to Dylan Nunes .

The Campbelltown boys dominated the early part of the second half to hit the lead 24-20.

However silly City errors let Picton back into the game, and had them leading 28-24 in the dying stages.

Workaholic City lock Josh Honan crashed over next to the posts to seal a shock come from behind win, 30-28.

City’s best were Honan, class centre Aykan Bosnali and evergreen captain coach Michael Stevens.

In reserve grade Campbelltown, pictured below after the game, fell behind early 0-10 but showed a ton of guts to claw their way back and earn a 10-all draw with only two minutes left on the clock.

The Kangaroos head south to Mittagong next Sunday and the clash with the Lions for the annual Corkery/ Andrews Cup.
