A 19 year old man has been arrested and a loaded firearm seized after an armed robbery near the Campbelltown central business district this morning.
He has been charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.
The accused appeared at Campbelltown Local Court today, where he was refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday, June 27.
Just after 9.45am today (Monday, April 30), police were called to a service station on Lindesay Street, following reports of a robbery.
A man allegedly armed with a rifle threatened a staff member and demanded cash, before running from the scene, police said.
As officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command commenced inquiries, they were alerted to a man running past a school on Thomas Street and headed toward Rudd Road.
Local police, with assistance from Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS), Dog Squad and PolAir, located a man and a foot pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, a 19-year-old man, was located in the rear of a home on Rudd Street.
He has been arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
A loaded rifle was seized and will undergo forensic examination.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
