Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor says fast broadband is transforming the region’s households and businesses.
He said NBN (National Broadband Network) fast broadband is available to 96 per cent of Hume, or almost 66,000 premises, with the rollout now in the home straight.
In the past 18 months, more than 34,000 premises in Hume have connected to satellite, fibre or fixed wireless NBN.
Take-up rates in Hume are well higher than the state and national average:
Cobbitty and Oran Park take-up is at 77.2 percent;
Appin take-up is at 72.6 percent;
Mount Annan take-up is at 72.4 percent;
Spring Farm take-up is at 70.7 percent;
Bargo and Tahmoor take-up is at 70.8 percent;
Camden Park take-up is at 70.3 percent;

“In fact, in the 12 months to January this year the NBN connected an average of about 74 premises a day in Hume.
“The Coalition is driving a telecoms revolution through unprecedented investment and a commitment to deliver a technology solution for everyone,” he said.
More than 2,400 premises in rural communities like those around Tuena and Taralga are accessing NBN’s satellite service.
Dozens of small villages like Wingello and Exeter are now connected to fixed wireless technology.
“Fast broadband is bringing families closer, creating safer communities and making it easier to do business,” Mr Taylor said.
