A former Louis Vuitton employee has traded luxury handbags for a calculator to pursue an accounting career.
TAFE NSW provided the bridge to help him cross from one career to another.
Campbelltown resident Kridsana Chuaybamrung had an award winning career working for various high end retail brands, but always had a passion for numbers.
He won the 2015 and 2016 Chanel national award for service excellence and an award from the Oceania zone president and managing director of Louis Vuitton for best performance throughout 2018.
“As part of this achievement I was invited to give feedback to my line managers on the business unit and the development of our client services, which was a great stepping stone for me to realise my potential,” he says.
He enrolled in a Certificate III in Account Administration at TAFE NSW Liverpool to relaunch his career and is now successfully employed in the accounting office of Ingleburn based business Xpress.
But Kridsana is not resting in his laurels and is currently studying the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping at TAFE NSW.
“I returned to TAFE NSW for further studies because I know having this skillset and qualifications behind me will open up even more opportunities for me.”
Accounting jobs are expected to grow over the next few years to 207,200 by 20231 with the number of employed accountants in NSW increasing by 7.7 per cent last year.
TAFE NSW business and finance teacher Joanne Magoulas said Kridsana was a great example to those looking to change their career.
“It’s great to see that people like Kridsana have been able to find their passion and dream career and TAFE NSW has equipped him with the practical skills for success in the accounting industry,” Mrs Magoulas said.
Mrs Magoulas said the accounting courses have transitioned to connected and online learning, where students and teachers are connected in real-time via web-conferencing, based on a class timetable filled with practical and interactive lessons.
“TAFE NSW has adopted connected learning as a new mode of delivering some of our accounting courses because it supports social distancing during Covid-19 and allows students to be connected to their teacher,” she said.
