It has an interesting name but Sydneysider’s is set to give Camden’s dining scene a bit of a shake.

It also promises to deliver some of Melbourne’s world famous hospitality magic when it opens its doors on October 26.

Sydneysider’s general manager Kaitlyn Daley, now of Cobbitty but originally from Melbourne, explained the story behind the name at a local media meet and greet earlier today.

“I’m originally from Melbourne, and Melburnians call people from Sydney Sydneysiders, so that was the name we chose,’’ Ms Daley said.

With a food and beverage background in Melbourne, where she worked with some big names, Ms Daley wants to bring good service and food to Camden, especially later in the evenings.

She said Sydneysider’s will offer fine and casual dining and the food will be a fusion of Spanish and French cooking.

“We don’t want to commit to one type of cuisine; we want to have the flexibility to go with what’s trending, what’s fashionable.

“We want to bring a little bit of the city to the suburbs, same with that kind of Melbourne influence again, the service, the friendliness – the things that entice people to go out,’’ she said.

Ordering will be civilized at Sydneysider’s – there will be full table service.

On hand today to welcome her and Sydneysider’s to Camden – and spruik low unemployment figures – was energy minister and Hume MP Angus Taylor.

“We should be thinking of Camden as a place where people from around the region will go for a great night out and a fantastic meal,’’ he said.

“It’s a beautiful town, still has that rural charm, which we all want to keep here, and having great places to go out and eat is what Camden is all about.

“And here we have a fantastic new restaurant, employing 30 people,’’ Mr Taylor said.

Sydneysider’s, which is located on the corner of Argyle and Murray Streets, Camden will have a launch party  on October  25 and open to the public a day later.
