WITH what looked like half of Campbelltown around him and after scoffing a Darrell Lea chocolate dipped marshmallow for the South West Voice camera, Bryan Doyle declared: “I love what I do.’’
Just moments after cutting the ribbon to formally open the new Darrell Lea factory in Brooks Road, Ingleburn on Saturday, the State Member for Campbelltown was in an effusive mood.
Well, Bryan Doyle always looks like a happy chappy, but he seemed particularly pleased on this overcast Saturday morning.
“I just love what I do,’’ he told us.
“And you know what, I did not realise how good it was when I was first going for it. The variety of things you get to go to and to do in this job.
“It’s just great and I love it.
“Imagine that – being invited to do this sort of thing,’’ Mr Doyle said as scores of locals milled about and sampled the sweet offerings of the host.
“And of course this is fantastic for Campbelltown, for Darrell Lea to be here,’’ he said pointing to the large number of residents on the site.
Mr Doyle said he was looking forward to the election next March, with the Camden councillor, Greg Warren having been preselected for the Labor Party to take him on in the seat of Campbelltown he won as a Liberal in 2011.
He said a redistribution since that election has divided Campbelltown into north and south electorates, with Doyle in the south and Labor’s Andrew McDonald in the north for Macquarie Fields.
“We will see what happens; the people will decide,’’ Mr Doyle said of what the outcome may be next March.
