In the lead-up to the NSW Budget, local MP Anoulack Chanthivong has warned local residents to be prepared for further disappointment with life under the Liberals.
“Short-changed and ignored, our community has been missing out for years on vital infrastructure from this Liberal Government,” was Mr Chanthivong’s message to his electorate of Macquarie Fields during a speech to NSW Parliament.
“My constituents are sick and tired of life under the State and Federal Liberal Governments, and their ongoing lack of commitment to address the infrastructure deficit,’’ he said.
“We’re had enough of being given a raw deal.
“As one of the fastest growing areas of Sydney, we can no longer afford to play catch-up with infrastructure.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Like many in my community, I can’t comprehend how the Liberal Government can lump us with out of control development yet fail to provide basic services for our community.[/social_quote]
“We deserve better and we deserve our fair share.”
Mr Chanthivong said his electorate’s needs made up a long list and included:
- increased infrastructure investment;
- adequate commuter parking;
- reliable and fair train services;
- air conditioning in our schools;
- a conveniently-located Service NSW centre;
- schools for our newest suburbs;
- a lift at Macquarie Fields Station;
- protection of our green open space.
He said the recent Western Sydney City Deal was a prime example where the fundamental needs of our growing area were deliberately and blatantly ignored.
“Where was our billion dollar rail link connecting the Western Sydney Airport to Macarthur and Leppington.’’ He said.
“The facts are clear: South West Sydney has been short changed and denied the public investment it deserves under this City Deal.
“I know this coming Budget will be a huge disappointment – yet again – for the residents of Macquarie Fields.
“It’s not fair that we are missing out when the Liberal Government is doing a cash splash in other areas to shore up their own votes. What about us, Premier? Where’s our fair share?”
What can you expect from a Coalition Government that only looks after areas that vote for them and only gives second to the welfare of the state
